kraM Left is Mark Webster, who has been making music in Auckland and abroad for over 40 years. Initially playing bass in Bombers (as featured on the seminal Class of 81 compilation on Propellor Records).
Mark then went on to form Flak who in their short lifespan released music on Flying Nun and Industrial Tapes. He followed that up with the Amsterdam based group If (whose Bill cassette was reissued by Epic Sweep) and upon returning to Aotearoa formed Teeth.
kraM Left’s debut album Sounds Good steps out of this long-checkered history as it’s own thing entirely. A totally singular sound emerges over the course of Sounds Good.
Where other musicians mellow and lose their edge with age the sound of kraM is spiky, beautiful and thoroughly in the present.
Weaving the post punk approach heard in his previous ensembles through primitive outsider electronics and perhaps most unexpectedly, “hooks”, Mark has created an album that is as real as it gets.
